Honda home hydrogen station targets fuel cell vehicles

Honda's home hydrogen station will cater for fuel cell vehicles that are still a rarity these days, and recently Susan Carpenter of The Los Angeles Times headed over to Honda's Torrance headquarters to see the installed unit there. This system comes with three components, among them include a vehicle filling unit, an electrolyzer which will split tap water into hydrogen and oxygen and a six-kilowatt solar array to keep the entire thingamajic juiced. It seems the entire system is able to generate around 0.5 kilograms of hydrogen from eight hours of sunshine. Just before you dismiss such an effort, it is more or less enough to fuel around 30 to 35 miles, tops, of driving, making it meet the majority of people's daily commuting needs.
