BlackBerry Protect, a new application from Research In Motion, offers to general users a set of data backup features that were previously available only to corporate customers using BlackBerry Enterprise Server. The app will save the phone's vital data online, where it can be accessed if the phone is lost. Meanwhile, rumors continue to swirl regarding a BlackBerry tablet.
Research In Motion (Nasdaq: RIMM) on Monday announced BlackBerry Protect, a free service that will enhance the security 
of both enterprise and private BlackBerry device owners.
BlackBerry Protect will enable remote wipe and wireless backup and restore, among other things. It is being launched in limited beta this week.
Separately, rumors about the BlackBerry tablet are heating up, and the device is now said to have two cameras and run on a 1GHz processor.
