Light Peak Technology from Intel

Even though Intel named this new technology as “Light Peak”, this is nothing do with light. But eventually they hope to challenge fiber optics where that carries light as beam as data. Light Peak will good replacement to myriad cables that currently used with monitors, external drives, scanners, printers and anything else that plugs into a computer.

Light Peak will use copper instead of light beam as data transmission media, experts revealed. Also Light Peak plans to faster than even USB 3.0 with data transmission speed around at 10 gigabits per second in both directions simultaneously. Sony and Apple work with Intel, which are expected to be among the first to use the technology.
