High-tech swimwear ban suits Hayden

VANCOUVER — There’ll be no full body super suits at this weekend’s Mel Zajac Jr. International swim meet at the UBC Aquatic Centre.

And that’s just fine with Canadian swim stars Brent Hayden and Annamay Pierse.

FINA, swimming world governing body, ruled last summer to ban the lightning fast, polyurethane body huggers that had been giving swimmers extra buoyancy and helping them smash records — more than 100 over the previous two seasons, 43 alone at the 2009 world championships in Rome.
