Wax Fang

Friday night saw Wax Fang play London’s Koko club on their tour through the UK. The theatrically set venue is the stage for Club NME, which aims to showcase new acts on their way through to the big time. Positive news for the psychedelic rock three-piece from Louisiana, Kentucky. However, their set began at 12.30am, which would have been great for any jet lag issues they may have had, but didn’t do them any favours in the audience dynamic.

The set started with force, but by the time 'Majestic’ began with its beautifully crafted melody followed by stabbing chords and Scott Carney’s Bowie-esque voice, the crowd had hit a state of confusion and began to thin. The war-based, political undertones were lost on most, who were in varying stages of inebriation, but the unsuspecting few who stuck around were embracing this surprisingly engaging performance.
